EV Charger Not Charging Overnight
Overnight charging issues are usually caused by scheduling, tariff settings, or connectivity rather than a fault.
If your EV charger is not charging overnight, the most common cause is charging schedules rather than a problem with the charger itself.
Many home EV chargers are set to charge only during specific times, often to take advantage of night-rate electricity. If the schedule is incorrect, overlaps with a power cut, or has not synced properly with the car or app, charging may not start as expected.
Check the charger’s app to confirm the scheduled charging window. Make sure the time and date are correct and that the schedule covers the full overnight period you expect the car to charge.
Next, check your electricity tariff settings. Some chargers rely on tariff information to decide when to start charging. If tariff details have changed or were not set correctly, the charger may delay or skip charging.
Connectivity can also affect overnight charging. If the charger loses Wi-Fi connection, scheduled charging may not trigger correctly. Reconnecting the charger to the network or restarting the app can often resolve this.
Finally, confirm that the charging cable is securely connected and that the car has not reached its charge limit. Some vehicles are set to stop charging at a specific percentage to protect battery health.
If overnight charging continues to fail after these checks, further support may be needed, but most issues are resolved by reviewing schedules and settings.
