How to Update EV Charger Firmware

Firmware updates keep your EV charger working reliably and ensure access to the latest features and fixes.

EV charger firmware is the software that controls how the charger operates. Keeping it up to date helps ensure reliable performance, compatibility with apps and vehicles, and ongoing safety improvements.

In most cases, firmware updates happen automatically through the charger’s app when the charger is connected to the internet. If automatic updates are enabled, no action is required from you.

If an update does not install automatically, you can usually check for updates within the charger’s app. Look for a settings or device information section where firmware status is shown. If an update is available, the app will guide you through the process.

During a firmware update, charging may be temporarily unavailable. This is normal. Updates typically take only a few minutes, and the charger will restart once the process is complete.

To avoid interruptions, it’s best to run updates when the car is not actively charging. Ensure the charger remains powered and connected to Wi-Fi throughout the update.

If an update fails or the app cannot complete the process, restarting the charger and the app often resolves the issue. Persistent problems may require support to check connectivity or compatibility.
