Who Can Apply for the EV Charger Grant in 2025?
To qualify for the €300 home charger grant in 2025, you’ll need to meet a few criteria:
- Your EV must have been purchased in 2018 or later.
Both new and second-hand vehicles, including used imports are eligible if registered in Ireland post-2018. - You must own the property where the charger is being installed.
This must be a private home with off-street parking, and the charger must be connected to the home's electricity supply. - Your home must not have already received the grant.
The SEAI allows one grant per property, so if a charger was previously installed there using grant funding, you won’t qualify again. - Plug-in hybrids and full EVs are eligible.
Mild hybrids and standard petrol/diesel cars are not supported under the scheme.
What Does the Grant Cover?
The €300 grant helps offset the cost of both the EV charger unit and its installation by a Safe Electric Ireland-approved installer, like WattCharger. While it won’t cover the full cost, it’s a valuable saving and our team can guide you through the application and installation process from start to finish.
How to Apply for the SEAI EV Home Charger Grant
The application process is straightforward:
- Apply online through the SEAI website.
You’ll need your Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) from your electricity bill and a few details about your property and vehicle. - Receive your grant offer letter.
Once approved, you’ll have 6 months to complete the installation and submit the paperwork. - Book your installation with WattCharger.
Our team can install your charger and help with any documentation required for claiming your grant. - Submit evidence of installation.
This includes photos, the installer's certification, and your invoice. WattCharger will help ensure everything is submitted correctly.
Grants for Business & Apartment Dwellers
In addition to home charger grants, SEAI also offers grants for workplaces, apartment blocks, and commercial premises through its Community and Business EV Grant Scheme. You can explore these options here:
